The absolute highlight. In these months, the giant humpback whales join our resident sperm whales. Witness the spectacular behaviour of animals migrating here from Antarctica into the warm Indian Ocean.
Prices per person; flights to and from Mauritius are arranged by you. Minimum group size is four guests. April falls at the tail end of cyclone season — individual outings may be rescheduled due to weather. A date becomes binding once you receive our written confirmation; we keep a waitlist for fully booked blocks.
Le Morne sits on the south-western tip of Mauritius, beneath the basalt massif of Le Morne Brabant. A reef offshore shelters the lagoon — beyond it, the seabed drops away steeply. That drop-off is exactly why the sperm whales stay here year-round: they reach hunting depth just minutes by boat from the beach.

A resident population of sperm whales lives off Le Morne — they're here year-round, not just passing through. From July to October, humpback whales additionally migrate from Antarctica into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean to mate and give birth. The April and May dates therefore encounter sperm whales only, while the August and September dates can show both species.
The waters off La Réunion and Mauritius offer a rare and magical opportunity: under a strictly regulated local agreement, swimming with whales is officially permitted here. We conduct our in-water encounters in exact accordance with these conservation guidelines.
When conditions, your safety, and above all the animals' behaviour allow it, you have the unique chance to slip into the water in small groups together with Richard or Tom. Every snorkel session is decided in the moment, based on the sighting — the whales always set the pace.
An encounter like this is a privilege, which is why it can never be guaranteed and never comes at the animals' expense. This isn't an ordinary tourist outing, but a respectful, safe immersion into the world of these giants, accompanied by absolute experts.
